This quick guide will help get you started with Rguroo’s Dashboard feature, available to faculty. Here we will show you how to form groups from among the Rguroo users (your students and other faculty users) and create data repositories to share with your groups.
To access the dashboard, login to your Rguroo account and click on the Dashboard button located at the top right of the Rguroo application window. Once you click this button, the dashboard application opens in a new browser tab.
A dataset repository consists of a set of datasets. You can share a dataset repository with the group(s) you form in the Rguroo Dashboard. To add datasets to a repository, you can upload CSV or Excel files from your computer, or you can import datasets that already exist in your Rguroo account, listed under the Data section in Rguroo.
To create a Private Repository, open the Rguroo Dashboard. Select the Repositories icon on the left-hand side of the Rguroo Dashboard window (for small screens, click on the three horizontal lines on the top-right of the dashboard window to see the Repositories option). This opens the Manage Repositories Menu. Here you can create Folders and Repositories. There is the option of creating Repositories within a folder or outside of folders in the Root Directory.
Selecting the button at the top of the directory pane opens the Add new folder menu. Provide a name for the folder and select Apply. The folder will be created in the Root Directory. By Clicking on a folder name, you will see the names of the repositories within that folder.
There are three ways to create a Repository:
Within Folders: Select the to the right of a folder name.
In the Root Directory: Select the button at the top of the directory pane.
Duplicating an existing Repository by selecting the duplicate icon .
Once the or
button is selected the Create Repository dialog box opens. To create a Repository provide the following:
Name: A unique name for the Repository.
Description: (optional) A brief description of the Repository.
There are two ways to add datasets to a repository: importing from your local computer or from your Rguroo Data environment.
You can add datasets to a repository by clicking on the name of the repository and then selecting the sin on the menu that appears. Then you can browse in your local computer to select a CSV or Excel file(s). Once a file is selected, provide the following:
Name: A unique name for the Dataset. This name is how the dataset will appear in the Rguroo Data environment.
Title: A unique title for the Dataset. This is how the dataset will appear in the Dataset Repository when users import.
Description: (optional) A brief description of the Dataset.
Documentation: (optional) A detail documentation of the dataset. This information will be accessible via the information button on the private repository page when users import into their Rguroo Data environment.
Click on the repository name that you wish to add datasets to, and on the menu that appears, click icon. Then the list of datasets that currently sit in your Rguroo Data environment appears. Select the dataset that you like to add to the repository by selecting the checkboxes. The selected datasets will be added to your repository.
You can create Groups consisting of Rguroo users, and share dataset repositories and send emails to the Groups. You can also send emails to an individual within a group or a subset of individuals within a group.
To create a Group, open the Rguroo Dashboard. Select the Groups icon on the left-hand side of the Rguroo Dashboard window (for small screens, click on the three horizontal lines on the top-right of the dashboard window to see the Groups option). This opens the Manage Groups Menu. Here you can create Folders and Groups. There is the option of creating Groups within a folder or outside of folders in the Root Directory.
Selecting the button at the top of the directory pane opens the Add new folder menu. Provide a name for the Folder and select Apply. The Folder will be created in the Root Directory. Selecting a Folder in the directory will display the Group(s) within the Folder.

button is selected, the Create Group dialog box opens. To create a group provide the following:
Name: A unique name for the Group.
Join Code: This is a code that members will use to join the group that you are creating. Provide an alphanumeric code, or use the Generate button to generate a code. If you provide your own Join Code, Rguroo will check to ensure that you or any other Rguroo user has not used the Join Code that you provide. If other users have used the Join Code you type in, Rguroo will ask you to type another Join Code.
Description: (optional) A brief description of the Group.
Expriation Date: The date when the group with expire. By default the date is 6 months from the creation date.
There are two ways to add users to a group: using the Join Code or by email.
Users can join groups using the Join Code by logging into their Rguroo account and clicking on the dropdown at the top of the Rguroo application window. There, they can select Join a Group. To use this method, the group creator must share the Join Code with users they wish to add to the group, and the user will be added when they enter the Join Code in their Rguroo account.
You can add members into a group that you have created using their Rguroo usernames (email). Click on the group name that you like to add members to. The Members menu appears. To add an individual to the group, click on the button, enter the individual’s Rguroo username (email), and then click on teh Add button. The user will be added to the group.
To add multiple users simultaneously, click on the button, download the CSV or Excel Template that is provided, and fill in the Rguroo usernames (emails) that you like to add to the group. Save the CSV or Excel file into your computer. Click on the
button again, select Import, and select the Excel or CSV file you created. All Rguroo usernames that are not already in the group will be added to the group.
Emails sent to Groups will be from a no-reply@soflytics.com email address. To send an email
Select the Group you wish to send the email announcement to.
Select the select-all checkbox next to the Name header, or the checkboxes of individual members.
Select the send email button at the bottom of the page.
Provide a subject line and create the message.
click Send.
